In the 90th we owned the Swedish wine import company Via Domitia, which was specialized on Languedoc wine. Now, as retired and living in Languedoc, we are still interested in wine and have the opportunity to have our former producers nearby and also to explore many new vine-yards. We like to share that experience with you in this guide.

Places to taste most local wines

The most pleasant way of buying wine is of cause to visit the vineyard. Unlike Spain almost every producer welcomes visitors most days except during lunch-hours. Another way of buying wine is to go to a cave-cooperative, where they produce and sell a selection of wines from the member' harvest.
However - it can be quite cumbersome after a while to drive around between the different producers. It is also a bit embarrassing if you do not like the wine and leave empty handed, or if you due to restricted weight on the plane or your countries alcohol restrictions, can't buy more than a couple of bottles when they have let you try over a dozen.

We have therefore listed places where you can find a large selection of wines of the area at one place. It might be a producer that sells more than his own products, it is often a restaurant there you can buy wine by the glass, or it could be a large wine-shop.
